Former Tory leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith has led parliamentarians from around the world in signing a letter demanding that Emanuel Macron expels the Chinese ambassador over a comment that Ukraine is not a real country.
An open letter signed by around 80 parliamentarians from 30 countries has been sent to French President Emmanuel Macron demanding his expels the Chinese ambassador in Paris for suggesting Ukraine is not a real country. The move by former Conservative leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith’s International Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) comes amid growing disquiet about the way the governments in London and Paris are “kowtowing” to President Xi’s Communist regime.
The latest outrage came last week with Ambassador Lu Shaye saying: “These ex-USSR countries don’t have actual status in international law because there is no international agreement to materialise their sovereign status.”
