When the Centre for Brexit Policy was founded three years ago, many wondered if it was needed.
They included prominent Brexiteers who had been at the heart of the Leave campaign. The general feeling was that the war was over and that we had won.
Boris Johnson had secured a landslide majority the previous year and ended the dithering of the previous government by finally taking the UK out of the EU, ending the torturous Article 50 negotiations.
Brexit, we thought, was done in 2020. It was an historic moment. I would love to say that was the end of it. That Boris Johnson used his resounding majority to create the post-Brexit future that we campaigned for.
That we would take advantage of the opportunities that Brexit afforded us. That it would change the way we engaged with the world.
